Mr. Roux has been a member of Deutsch, Kerrigan & Stiles’ Civil Litigation Department since joining the firm in 2002. Although his areas of practice include divorce work, debtor-creditor relations, and commercial litigation, Mr. Roux’s primary area of practice is in insurance defense and coverage.
For the last seven years, Mr. Roux has worked extensively with claims adjusters, third party administrators and underwriters in the development and defense of all insurance-related matters from the simplest food poisoning, falling merchandise or slip and fall claim to the most complex wrongful death, chemical exposure, or multi-party litigation case. His clients have included bars, restaurants, hotels, convenience stores, gas stations, trucking companies, and area small businesses.
Mr. Roux is experienced in all areas of litigation, including initial case analysis and strategy formation, coverage determination, preliminary exceptions including venue and jurisdictional challenges, motions for summary judgment, pre-trial motions, trials/arbitrations and writ applications/appeals. Mr. Roux has been fortunate enough to represent many of the world’s largest insurance companies both domestic and London-based. Mr. Roux has appeared before the First, Third, Fourth and Fifth Circuit Courts of Appeal as well as the Louisiana Supreme Court.
Mr. Roux earned his Juris Doctorate degree (cum laude) in May, 1994, from Tulane University Law School, where he was a member of the Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity. Mr. Roux was a founding member and senior managing editor of the Tulane Journal International and Comparative Law. Upon graduation from Tulane Law School, Mr. Roux earned a certificate in European Legal Practice.
Mr. Roux graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. He majored in Finance and Real Estate. While at SMU, Mr. Roux was a member of the SMU Lacrosse Team. Additionally, he studied abroad at University College, Oxford, and Selwyn College, Cambridge.
As a competitive shooter, Mr. Roux has participated in numerous state, zone and national championships. He has been a member of United States national teams which have competed in the Championship of the Americas, the Pan African Championships, the European Championships, and the World Championships. Mr. Roux tried out for the United States Olympic Team in 1996 and 2000.
