Walter P. Maestri is a partner in Deutsch, Kerrigan & Stiles’ New Orleans office who practices in the areas of insurance defense, maritime law, offshore litigation, products liability and workers’ compensation.
He has over a decade of experience defending the interests of businesses and government entities in workers’ compensation mediation and litigation. His representation ranges from defending Fortune 500 corporations and closely held companies to local governing authorities. He has litigated workers’ compensation cases across Louisiana and successfully argued before the Louisiana Courts of Appeal. Mr. Maestri also defends maritime clients in complaints brought under the Longshore and Harbor Workers Compensation Act (LHWCA).
In addition to his LHWCA work, Mr. Maestri’s maritime practice is devoted primarily to the representation of oil and gas producers and their contractors, both defending them against personal injury and property damage claims, as well as prosecuting claims on their behalf for property damage and lost oil and gas revenues. He also represents the welding industry, defending its members' interests in toxic exposure litigation throughout Louisiana.
