Marshall Speaks on Law Firm Attorney-Client Privilege

November 3 , 2008

NEW ORLEANS, LA. – Nancy J. Marshall will be a panelist for a CLE on "Law Firm Internal Investigations and the Attorney-Client Privilege: Maintaining Confidentiality and Avoiding Conflicts of Interest."  The 90-minute telephone conference with live questions and answers will be hosted by the Legal Publishing Group of Strafford Publications (register here) on November 5, 2008.

The panel will review the protections available to law firms as they conduct internal investigations, the common challenges asserted by aggrieved clients to access information gathered in the firm's internal investigations, the ethical issues law firms should consider when undertaking an internal investigation, and the steps a firm should take to protect the confidentiality of the information resulting from the internal investigation.

Marshall, a partner in the New Orleans office of Deutsch, Kerrigan & Stiles, is head of the firm's Professional Liability team and concentrates on defending legal malpractice claims.  She represents the endorsed insurer for the Louisiana State Bar, among other insurers.  She is a frequent speaker on legal issues, and has served as a member of the ABA Standing Committee on Lawyers Professional Liability.
